Perry County Jail Mugshots Overview
The Perry County Sheriff's Office iSOMS roster displayed booking-photo thumbnails on public current-inmate cards during research. Each photo appeared next to the person's name, age, race/sex, intake date, city, arresting department, arresting officer field, release date field, charge row, and bond column. The photo was embedded in the page as base64 image data, not as a separate stable JPG link for each inmate.
No official Perry County page was found for a recent-bookings gallery, mugshot gallery, booking-photo archive, Facebook booking feed, daily jail report, or photo removal request. That makes the roster the main official source for Perry County jail mugshots. If the photo is not on the roster, the next step is a sheriff public-records request for the booking photograph or booking sheet.
Where Perry County Mugshots Appear
The current-inmate page is the strongest local source because the roster card pairs the photo with booking facts. The search form also has a Released checkbox, which means some released records may remain searchable, but Perry County did not post a retention window. Do not assume a photo stays public for a fixed number of days after release.

Perry County Booking Photo Fields

Are Perry County Mugshots Public?
Perry County's own practice is the clearest answer: iSOMS displayed booking photos on public current-inmate cards during research. Alabama does not appear in the research as having a single statute titled as a mugshot release law. The better legal frame is Alabama public-records law, the sheriff's public prisoner-record duty, and the fact that Perry's roster actually publishes the photo field.

Ala. Code § 36-12-40 gives Alabama residents a right to inspect and copy public writings unless another law provides an exception.
Ala. Code § 36-22-8 requires sheriffs to keep a public record of prisoners incarcerated in the county jail.

Perry County Mugshot Limits
The public nature of a roster photo is not unlimited. Juvenile records, youthful-offender matters, expunged or sealed cases, active investigations, security concerns, medical or mental-health details, and privacy-based redactions can limit what is released. Perry County also did not publish a fixed rule for how long released-inmate photos remain in iSOMS.
What is and isn't public: The public can see booking photos that appear on iSOMS roster cards. Missing, removed, expunged, juvenile, or investigation-sensitive photos may require a records request or may be withheld under law.
Request a Perry County Booking Photo
If the photo is not visible online, send a specific request to the Perry County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff contact block is P.O. Box 157, Marion, AL 36756, phone (334) 683-6534. The request should identify the person, arrest or booking date, arresting agency, charge or case number if known, and the phrase "booking photograph" or "booking photo associated with booking/intake on [date]."
Ask for the public prisoner-record entry, booking sheet, booking photograph, charge list, bond information, arresting agency, confinement date, release date, and authority for confinement. If the person was transferred while the James Hood Detention Facility is closed, ask whether Perry County or the receiving jail maintains the photo sought. If any part is withheld, ask the office to cite the legal basis and release all segregable public fields.
Perry County Released Mugshots
The Released checkbox on iSOMS indicates a released-record search path, but the research did not locate a posted photo retention schedule. A released person may remain searchable for some period, or the public card may no longer show the photo. When the photo is needed for a lawful records purpose after it drops from the roster, request it from the sheriff rather than relying on unofficial reposts.

Perry County Mugshot Removal
Perry County did not publish a mugshot-removal button or photo-removal policy. If a case is dismissed, acquitted, or otherwise eligible, Alabama expungement is the records-clearing route to discuss with counsel or the court. ALEA explains that Alabama Code Section 15-27 allows certain criminal records to be expunged and that courts grant expungements, not ALEA.
An expungement order can affect public access to arrest and court records, including booking-photo access, but it is not automatic. The fact that a charge was dismissed does not by itself remove all public records. Commercial mugshot-publishing sites are not official Perry County sources, and their removal processes are separate from sheriff, court, or ALEA records.

Federal and ICE Mugshots
Federal and immigration custody systems do not work like the Perry County jail roster. The BOP inmate locator shows federal search results such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location, but it does not publish mugshots. ICE ODLS is a custody-location tool for immigration detainees and does not operate as a public mugshot roster.
A person with an ICE detainer may still be in local custody rather than ICE physical custody. ICE describes a detainer as a request for notice before release and up to a 48-hour hold beyond ordinary release so DHS can assume custody. It is not the same as a Perry County charge, a conviction, or proof that a mugshot exists in a federal public database.
Perry County Mugshot Accuracy
A mugshot proves that a booking photo was associated with an arrest or custody event. It does not prove guilt. The filed charge may differ from the booking charge, and the final case outcome may be dismissal, nolle prosequi, acquittal, plea, conviction, or expungement.
